Could this perhaps be the most iconic American fighter plane of all time? Definitely one of the best-looking ones in its bare metallic finish. Add the shark mouth paint scheme to it and you’ve got an absolute winner! Aside from that, the aircraft did perform pretty well during the war and the ones that followed, so that in itself should warrant a model of it in my collection.
This is going to be another one of my 50/50 models, where one half is opened to show all the internal parts and the other side is finished in an operational setting.

Unfortunately, due to the extensive paint issues and the work required to restart the process, I've decided to cancel this project and focus my attention and energy on other models in my stash.
Okay, I said the next entry would be on completion of this model, but it’s been so long since the last one that I figured I could write one in between to give you a bit of an idea on what’s been going on.
As mentioned previously, the assembly of the model is done, and it was ready for paint. Sadly, that’s where the trouble started.

I’ve been working on this model in the background without posting anything about it other than in my monthly newsletters. I’m still getting back into the swing of things when it comes to the hobby and want to focus on the model before starting to write about it again on the website with blog posts. So far, most of the assembly is complete and I’m about to start the external painting of the bare metallic finish. I’m dreading the masking process as I’m not sure how to do this just yet, with all the internal parts being on show on the other side.
The next blog entry will be when the model is finished, and I’ve got the photos to show you which will hopefully be sometime next month.
