CH41-A Chinook

Having heard many amazing stories by my ground instructor Lyle Nutt during flight training, I became interested in the aircraft he was always talking about. The CH47-A Chinook, a helicopter that would become an icon in the world of helicopters. After hours and hours of extensive research, I bought the kit and many aftermarket parts. In late October 2011 "the making of" started. It was about to become my very first highly detailed model.

This project had a special meaning from the start, as I would give her away once she was finished to the person who flew her in Vietnam.

All my models before were build straight from the box, but this one received many aftermarket and scratch build parts. A great undertaking that took me about 150 hours during a timespan of 8 months to complete. Unfortunately there isn't a fully detailed report of the build, as I didn't have many followers back then. But photos of the build, the photo shoot and me giving her away can be found in the photo section.

I would like to express my gratitute to Lyle for answering all my questions, providing me with amazing books, material and stories. May she show off in your house for many years to come!

Thank you for following this build and hope to see you at the next one.
